Aaron Johnson Files For Arbitration

The deadline for player-elected salary arbitration has come and gone with twenty players electing arbitration with their teams (the deadline for team-elected salary arbitration is tomorrow). Of these twenty I thought that Aaron Johnson was the most interesting of the players who decided to file. As of now there is an on-going investigation as to whether or not Johnson is in fact a restricted free agent thanks to some very poor planning on the part of Chicago's management. Furthermore, it was Johnson's agent, Allan Walsh, that publicly commented on Chicago's improper tendering of qualifying offers. I don't know what effect Johnson's decision to file for arbitration might have on the investigation but it seems that he and his agent expect him to remain a restricted free agent. It will be interesting to see what happens if the situation with Chicago's free agents is not decided by the time Johnson has his arbitration hearing scheduled.
